ROMANIA: Mega Image continues its expansion on Cluj market | Progresiv
Four months after entering Cluj, Mega Image announces the opening of its second supermarket in Cluj-Napoca. Moreover, the retailer is also testing the seaside, opening its first store in Mamaia resort. In addition to the two openings, Mega Image has also marked two Shop & Go stores in Bucharest, the chain currently reaching 557 commercial units nationwide. Since the beginning of the year and until now, the retailer opened 35 new stores.
"The second opening in Cluj confirms the commitment we made with the launch on this market, thus giving our customers a different shopping experience to inspire them for their authentic lifestyle. We also continue to support and promote local producers through direct partnerships with them", says Vassilis Stavrou, General Director of Mega Image.
The new Mega Image supermarket is located in a central area, accessible for pedestrians, in Mihai Viteazul Square and has a sales area of 890 sqm. The store includes a wide variety of products, along with its own brand, delicacies and the Mega Apetit ready-meal product range. Moreover, Mega Image continues partnerships with local producers. Thus, customers will have seasonal produce from local fruits and vegetables producers and the local meat producer Moldovan – Carmangeria Sannicoara meat producer and the La Casa bakery and pastry producer will offer a special range of products within the store.
The store inaugurated in Mamaia is located in the Miorita complex, on the ground floor and has a non-stop schedule. With this opening, the retailer will operate 20 stores in the county of Constanta.
Founded in 1995, Mega Image is the largest supermarket chain in Romania. The retailer is part of Ahold Delhaize Group, an international retailer operating on three continents. The company ended 2016 with businesses of 4.32 billion lei, reporting an increase of 21% compared to 2015.
