ROMANIA: Jidvei, over 13% advance of business in 2017 | Progresiv
Jidvei, one of the most important local wine producers, reported in 2017 a turnover of over 13% compared to the previous year. At the level of 2016, Jidvei achieved sales of almost 151 million lei and a net profit of 13.8 million lei.
" 2017 is another year of excellent performance for the Jidvei Group, the main player on the white wine market in Romania. We continued the healthy and sustainable growth of business, with sales jumping more than 13%.
The most remarkable growth was the super-premium segment with Mysterium and Owner's Choice (Ana and Maria wines). These increases have been possible thanks to the constant and significant progress in improving the quality of our products, which is, in fact, the main objective of our group of companies", said Cristian Saitariu, Jidvei's General Director, for Progresiv.
For the current year, the company again expects balanced and sustainable sales growth, based on the investments made, the available resources and Jidvei team capabilities. Investments in 2017 focused on expanding and refurbishing the farm machinery and equipment, but also on modernizing the Jidvei wine cellar. At the end of the year, Jidvei was able to process and store more than 30 million liters of wine, brandy and sparkling wine.
"We will be more active both in the export area and in the online environment, especially in premium and super premium wines. We also want to put more emphasis on the segment of oenotourism, to facilitate the contact of consumers and those interested in the places where we produce our wines, to give them the opportunity to see and better understand how this process takes place", the company director added.
Sales of about one million bottles of Vinul Unirii
On the occasion of the First Centenary of Great Romania, Jidvei launched Vinul Unirii, an anniversary product celebrating this moment of all Romanians.
As for the positioning of the new product launched, Cristian Saitariu said: "This wine is our way of taking part in the celebration of this unique moment, the First Centenary of Great Romania. As far as the positioning of the wine is concerned, we are talking about a premium wine, but we will make it affordable for all wine lovers. We are addressing people who cherish our history, values and traditions, lovers of everything that is Romanian".
Vinul Unirii can be found in supermarkets and hypermarkets in the near future and has a listing price starting from 14 lei. "We estimate that in supermarkets and hypermarkets it can be purchased at a price ranging from 14 to 16 lei, depending on their pricing policy. Sales will be supported by marketing and communication activities, so we expect sales for this new range to be somewhere between 800,000-1,000,000 bottles", said Saitariu.
This year, Jidvei does not intend to launch any new products or ranges, but plans to visually refresh certain ranges in the product portfolio.
