ROMANIA: Heineken business, in decline after two years of growth | Progresiv
Heineken Romania, the second player on the local beer market by sales, ended 2017 with a net turnover of 1.16 billion lei, down by about 4% compared to the previous year when it reported revenues of 1.21 billion lei, according to data reported by the company to the Ministry of Finance. 
Also at the level of profitability Heineken had a negative performance, reporting a profit of 129.75 million lei, down by 20% from the result reported in 2016.
This is the first decrease reported by Heineken after two years of consecutive increases and comes as the Romanian beer market recorded a moderate increase of 2% last year, reaching a volume of 16.11 million hectoliters. In terms of per capita consumption, last year it reached the 82-liter threshold, the highest level in the last five years.
Heineken is the second largest player on the beer market in Romania based on sales, after Ursus Breweries and owns brands like Heineken, Ciuc, Bucegi or Silva in the portfolio. Last year, the Heineken brand increased its volumes by more than 10%, according to company data, Romania ranking among the five markets where the company reported a double digit increase for Heineken beer.
