ROMANIA: Former Halewood CEO to invest 2.5 million euros in his own wine house | Progresiv
Dan Muntean, the former general director of Halewood Romania, launches his own wine house – Domeniul Muntean. The investment amounts to 2.5 million euros.
Initially, Domeniul Muntean will import wines from countries such as France, Italy, Chile and New Zealand and afterwars it will enter in production with this autumn’s harvest. The wines will be found both in retail and in Horeca.
"Domeniul Muntean is a family business, born from the love for wine and for people who toil in its service, for the blessed vineyards and sun which give us this daily happiness. We will start producing our own wine from this autumn’s harvest, highlighting both Romanian traditional varieties such as Feteasca Neagra, Tamaioasa Romaneasca, but also international varieties, known to Romanians - Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay. Our portfolio of imports is based on a careful and exclusive wine selection from both Old World and New World: Rosé wines from Southern France, Tempranillo from Spain, German Rieslings, Shirazuri from Australia or Carmenere from Chile”, said Dan Muntean, founder of Domeniul Muntean wine house.
The company is finalizing the purchase of a wine cellar and an area of about 70 hectares of vines in the Dealu Mare wine region.
Dan Muntean has an experience of over 30 years in the wine industry, and a good part of this period he worked at Halewood Romania, where he served as genral director until December 2016 when he decided to leave the company.
