ROMANIA: The first Lidl store with green roof, opened in the Capital | Progresiv
Lidl Romania opened store number 201 nationwide. The new location is in Bucharest, on No 111A Pantelimon Street.
The unit’s parking is located at ground level and customer access to the shopping area, located at semi-basement, is done using escalators.
According to Lidl Romania representatives, the store uses a number of advanced technologies in construction, helping to reduce the energy footprint of the building.
The store has a green roof, the first in the company's portfolio. Thus, the rooftop vegetation is to reduce the greenhouse effect in the city by absorbing dust and carbon dioxide and producing oxygen, as well as to lower the ambient temperature.
This type of roof also contributes to the building's energy efficiency through its natural cooling in summer and heating it in winter. The green roof naturally filters rainwater, due to the multiple component layers and significantly reduces the amount of water discharged into drains.
The store opened on Pantelimon Street is the unit 24th Lidl unit in Bucharest.
Lidl Romania ended last year with a turnover of almost 4.5 billion lei and a profit of 171 million lei, increasing by 286% compared to 2014.
