ROMANIA: Farmec aims to double its retail chain in 2017

"Farmec’s success from last year gave us all the confidence needed to develop an ambitious and viable development strategy for 2017. We opened eight new stores last year, among which are the first Gerovital stores in the country. This year, we will come closer to Romanians and open 15 stores across the country, both in traditional trade and in large shopping centers. This development strategy has been established in response to the demands of consumers, who appreciate and always recommend our products", said Codrean Pop, Farmec Sales Director.

Also, by the end of the year, Farmec will finalize the franchising project for brand stores to potential collaborators, continuing to form partnerships abroad.

"We estimate that all these measures will also materialize with an increase in turnover by over 15%", added Codrean Pop.

The company's development strategy includes launching new ranges and products, and upgrading the Farmec range. The producer from Cluj will invest in development courses for employees working in sales and will streamline the entire operational chain within this department.

Last year, Farmec recorded a monthly average of 14,000 customers, in over 22,500 retail locations. The company currently has 11 stores nationwide: 3 stores in Cluj-Napoca, two stores in Bucharest and one store in Sibiu, Timisoara, Brasov, Constanta, Arad and Targu Mures. Abroad, the company opened in collaboration with local partners 8 Gerovital stores in Italy, Spain, Hungary, France, Greece and the UAE.

Farmec Cluj-Napoca reported in 2015 sales of 172.5 million lei (38.8 million euros), up by almost 14% compared to the sales reported for the previous year. For 2016, Farmec representatives have estimated an advance of over 10%.
