ROMANIA: Cosmetic Plant aims for sales of over 2.5 million euros in 2018 | Progresiv
With over 1.2 million products sold in 2017, Cosmetic Plant, one of the leading local cosmetics producers, finished last year with a turnover of approximately 11.1 million lei (2.4 million euros). For 2018, the manufacturer set a 10% increase in business, in line with the recent years, the target being the 12 million lei (2.6 million euros) threshold. 
"The number of products marketed in 2017 as well as our turnover shows us once again that our business has a natural evolution due to the growing awareness of the Cosmetic Plant brand on both the traditional and modern retail markets, our products to new partners, respectively expand the product range to existing partners", says Susana Laszlo, Cosmetic Plant General Manager.
In terms of category development, one of the highest increases in the past two years was registered by sunscreens and after-beach care, with their sales rising by almost 80% during this period. Moreover, during the summer season of last year (July - August 2017), the share of beach products sold amounted to approximately 35% of the company's total sales. The most demanded products in this category were the COCOS beach solutions range based on organic coconut oil and the OLIV range, based on olive oil.
Cosmetic Plant is one of the best known producers of cosmetics in Romania. The business was established in 1991 in Cluj-Napoca by pharmacist Ileana Mester. At present, the Cosmetic Plant portfolio includes over 120 products divided into 18 product ranges grouped according to the main active ingredient or product use. The company is present at national level in the Auchan, Cora, Carrefour, dm DrogerieMarkt, Profi chains as well as in the nationwide pharmacies and shops.
