ROMANIA: After five years, FrieslandCampina returns to profit | Progresiv
FrieslandCampina Romania, producer of the Napolact dairy brand, reported a consolidated turnover of 331 million lei, up by 4% compared to the previous year, and a net profit of 2.65 million lei. This is the first time in the last five years when the company reports profit.
A contribution to this was the completion of the production consolidation program and the implementation of an extensive investment program in the two factories in Cluj-Napoca and Targu Mures.
The results were also boosted by the growing demand for the entire Napolact range, the Frico brand and especially Napolact Pur si Simplu and BIO, which continued to leverage and accentuate consumer trends.
"Our objective was to continue to streamline the entire business of the company after consolidation under a single entity over the past year. We focused on upgrading technology, capacity increase, along with product range development and continued investment in our brands, all contributing to a net positive result. Sales growth has been a secondary goal to which our bet has significantly contributed to investing and developing the local authentic dairy segment through the "Pur si Simplu" range, for which we use only milk and natural ferments, and the BIO range with locally developed products for Romanian consumers", said Cornel Caramizaru, Managing Director of FrieslandCampina Romania.
The process of integrating FrieslandCampina S.A, Napolact S.A and Industrializarea Laptelui Mures S.A into one entity was completed in the first quarter of last year.
For 2017, the company plans to continue its investment program launched last year, which has increased processing and packaging capacity and implemented the development program for partner farmers from Ardeal.
