Puratos Romania, sales of over 150 million lei in 2018 | Progresiv
Puratos Romania, the subsidiary of the global leader in the production of ingredients for the bakery, pastry-confectionery and chocolate industries, ended 2018 with a turnover of 152.64 million lei, up by 6% over the previous year, in line with forecasts for growth, and for 2019 the company expects a plus of 10%. From a volume point of view, the company produced 22,163 tons of ingredients locally, exceeding by 15% the production of the previous year.
In 2018, the company invested more than 2.2 billion lei, both in the modernization of production lines in the factory located in Ilfov County, as well as in the Bucharest Innovation Center. The investment was aimed at expanding the innovation space and acquiring equipment for a 145 sqm laboratory where the research team and technical consultants will stimulate innovation in bakery, pastry and chocolate.
"Innovation will continue to be one of the key factors in the development of the domestic market, a very dynamic market with a certain growth potential. In 2019-2020, we will remain one of the major investors in the industry, expanding production facilities and recalibrating part of the portfolio, focusing on sustainable ingredients that meet consumer demands for a higher nutritional profile, clean labels and organic raw materials", said Gabriel Galuscan, General Director of Puratos Romania.
Thus, for the next period, the company plans to expand its production capacity, which comes as a package with an investment in a line of fruit-based fillings. "It is a project that started last year and continues this year and in 2020 and we are talking about an investment of several million euros”, said Gabriela Beres, Regional Director Central and Eastern Europe.
Puratos has been present on the Romanian market since 1995, and since 2006, Puratos owns a factory located in the North of Bucharest, after an investment of 10 million euros. The producer supplies raw materials to more than 2,500 customers in the industrial, craft, retail and Horeca industries and exports products to Puratos subsidiaries in Bulgaria, Greece, Moldova, Hungary, Kosovo, Serbia and Israel. Exports have a contribution of 15% of the total turnover, while the retail segment (retailers that have in-store bakery) generates up to 5% of the total sales.
