Nestlé Romania doubled its growth rate in 2016 | Progresiv
Nestlé Romania reported an increase of 13% in turnover in 2016 over the previous year, to about 750 million lei, as well as net profit growth over the same period. The growth rate was two times higher than that previously reported for the period 2014-2015 (7%). Moreover, company officials claim that this is the biggest advance reported in the last eight years in Romania.
"2016 was an exceptional year for Nestlé Romania. With a balanced portfolio, a strategy aimed at launching new products and intensive communication with all partners, the company reported last year the highest increase in turnover from 2008 until now, and the largest Nestlé increase in the region in 2016" said Hervé de Froment, Nestlé Romania General Manager.
The business dynamic was supported by local consumption growth as well, given that last year all the 10 categories covered by Nestlé in Romania have been on an upward trend.
"On average, the markets where we activate experienced volume growth of about 11-12% in 2016 over the previous year while the increase in trade value was 6-7% in the same period, reflecting the discounts operated by traders from reducing VAT on food in mid 2015", added Froment.
For 2017, the company has set as target a sales growth rate of over 8% compared to last year.
The largest share in the company’s turnover is held by categories of cereal (Nestlé Fitness / Muesli / Nesquik), culinary products (Maggi), baby foods (Nan, Nestlé 8 Cereals) and coffee and other beverages (Nescafé, Dolce Gusto).
Locally, Nestlé owns a factory in Timisoara, which produces the Joe wafers and Nescafé 3 in 1 coffee. The company currently has about 900 employees and a history of 20 years in Romania.
