Nestlé optimistic after strong Q1 | Progresiv
Nestle has reiterated its forecast for the full fiscal year, saying its plans remain on track after reported better-than-expected sales growth for the first quarter.
For the quarter, revenue grew by 4.3% to 22.2bn Swiss francs, while they grew by 3.4% on organic basis, compared to 2.8% growth in the same period last year.
The results were boosted by 11.1% revenue growth in the Americas (+3.4% organic), which was bolstered by a 2.4% increase at its Waters business (+2% organic), a 2.1% rise at its Other Businesses (+6.8% organic), and a 1.9% uptick at its Asia, Oceania and sub-Saharan Africa unit (+3.3% organic). Those results helped offset a 1.9% decline across Europe, Middle East, and North Africa (+2.1% organic).
Nestle said the US and the China markets reported strong momentum in the quarter, helped by demand for pet care, dairy and infant nutrition products. It was also helped by price hikes in several markets.
CEO Mark Schneider noted: “Our increased speed, innovation for a changing world and execution focus are clearly paying off. We confirm our outlook for the year.” (www.kamcity.com)
