Metro France rolls out new concept | Progresiv
Metro Cash & Carry France has rolled out a third store concept called ‘Metro Compact’ in Vaux le Pénil (Seine and Marne). The concept is two times smaller than regular stores and has 1.500 square meters and caters to independent traders, craftsmen and restaurateurs. 
Connected terminals are positioned at the entry, next to a piece of furniture that features weighty and big items such as beer stalls, boxes of Cola bottles and pizza boxes.
Shoppers can order the presented items on the terminals or have them directly delivered. Shoppers can also use scanners to check product’s prices.
The assortment consists of 7,500 SKUs. And additional 100,000 SKUs assortment can also be accessed through an order post.
The concept is part of retailer’s “Oui 2020 Plan” focusing on multichannel and convenience assortment and services. Metro France plans to expand the chain with 20 new Compact stores by 2020. (www.kantarretailiq.com)
