Management change for Carrefour Romania | Progresiv
Jean-Baptiste Dernoncourt, the French executive who led Carrefour's operations in Romania for five years, is leaving the company, his position being taken over by a CEO also of French origin, according to Progresiv sources.
In 2013, when Jean-Baptiste Dernoncourt took over Carrefour Romania, the French retailer had a chain of 25 Carrefour hypermarkets, 75 Market supermarkets, 53 Express proximity stores and an online store.
At the end of last year, the company had 323 stores, including 33 hypermarkets, 237 supermarkets and 53 proximity stores. Moreover, Carrefour Romania's business went up to 9.6 billion lei (about 2 billion euros) in 2017, 15% more, the second largest regional turnover growth.
During his mandate, Dernoncourt also managed the process of taking over and integrating the 86 Billa stores, a deal valued at around 100 million euros. Also, in 2017, the Billa store remodeling was completed under the Market brand.
The business leadership in Romania will also be taken over by a French CEO, Jean Richard de Latour (photo) (36), working within the group for the past 15-years. The last position he has occupied was that of director of operations in the hypermarket division of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais-Picardie region of France, according to his LinkedIn profile. Other positions include Cabinet Director for Georges Plassat (2014-2017), former Carrefour Group Chief Executive Officer, Director of Studies, Innovation and Public Affairs Carrefour (2013-2014).
