L'Oreal Romania chief takes over the South African business | Progresiv
Gilles Antoine, the French manager who has run L'Oréal's business in Romania for six and a half years, has finished his mandate locally and will take over as Country Manager for operations in South Africa, according to sources inside the group. 
Gilles Antoine (50) took over as Country Manager of L'Oréal Romania in January 2012 when he replaced Richard Matalon. He has been working for about 25 years with the French cosmetics giant.
Prior to coming to Romania, Gilles Antoine managed from France L'Oréal’s South American business. Previously, he spent two years in Mexico, two in Brazil and three in Venezuela.
L'Oréal Romania ended last year with a turnover of 369.5 million lei, up by 17% compared to 2016, respectively a net profit of 33.9 million lei. Since the beginning of Gilles Antoine's term in 2012, L'Oréal's business in Romania has grown by almost 60%. One of the projects he launched and managed was the company's entry into its own retail area through the Kiehl's and Nyx brands. The manufacturer, the second most important player in the local cosmetics industry, is present in Romania with 19 brands, 4 business divisions and 240 employees.
