Lidl Poland to launch online | Progresiv
The long-anticipated launch of Lidl’s Polish eCommerce venture is set. Lidl-sklep.pl will initially offer 650 SKUs from eight categories, including clothing and textiles, electricals, kitchen accessories, tools and home appliances.
Lidl’s own brands will feature prominently, along with selected supplier items. Some promotions will be online-only. The offer will rotate three times a week and it is planned that the range will increase once the project has completed its public testing phase.
Delivery times will be up to 72 hours after ordering, with free delivery for orders over PLN149. Shipping for lower-value orders will carry a PLN9.90 fee. InPost and Geis will handle fulfilment duties and Lidl assures users its coverage extends to all areas of Poland. Click & collect or locker collection are not available at launch, although Lidl says it is exploring these options.
Grocery is not being considered at present, but again this was not ruled out as a potential future option. However, Lidl Polska management stressed that the cost of last-mile fulfilment was an issue, though ways to mitigate these costs were also being explored. (www.kantarretailiq.com)
