Lidl to launch transactional wine shop in Poland | Progresiv
Lidl launched a transactional website for wine in Poland. The selective expansion of its ecommerce platform has been a strategic priority over the past few years and Poland is the latest market chosen for 2017, having launched its own web shop in China on Alibaba’s online platform TMALL.
Lidl has operated a non- food eStore in Germany since 2009. In recent years it has launched in Belgium and Netherlands and earmarked the Czech Republic and Spain as other online markets. Non Food Operations are at the core of its online offer but wine is tradtionally the first grocery category to move online for Discounters. However, Lidl has added allgrocery categories to its transactional site in Germany except fresh products. This is allowing it to extend its grocery offer away from the store. However, Lidl is willing to experiment in fresh having purchased local grocery delivery start-up Kochzauber in Germany. (www.kantarretailiq.com)
