Lidl increases salaries for Romanian employees | Progresiv
German Lidl Discounter will increase the salaries of Romanian employees as of March 1st, the biggest impact being at the level of commercial workers and warehouse commissioners, the company announced.
From March 1st, a Lidl salesman with the minimum wage will earn a monthly guaranteed income of 3,061 lei gross, while a commissioner in the same situation will earn 3,301 lei gross. The minimum income for both professional categories increases by about 15% in the first three years. Over the past two years, Lidl has doubled the gross minimum income within the company.
The company also extends the range of employee benefits: all Lidl employees will have life insurance in addition to private health insurance so far.
Also, all retailer employees will receive meal tickets; so far this benefit was only available to commercial workers and warehouse commissioners.
"We create approximately 500 new jobs annually in Romania. I am very glad that no Lidl employee earns less than 3,000 lei gross", says Frank Wagner, Chairman of Lidl Romania's Board of Directors.
Lidl is one of the largest retail chains in Europe, operating in 27 European countries and having more than 140 logistics centers to supply about 10,000 stores.
