Lidl to develop new distribution centre in UK | Progresiv
Lidl’s UK operation has announced that it plans to develop a new 754,000 square foot distribution centre in Peterborough, alongside developer Roxhill.
The Daily Express reported that the facility will be Lidl’s largest warehouse in Britain to date, and is the sixth distribution centre to be announced in the past year, as the discounter continues to expand in the country. It plans to invest around 1.45 billion pounds in its operations between now and the end of 2018.
“Our expansion across the UK is progressing rapidly, and it's important we have the right supply chain infrastructure to support this,” company spokesperson Adrienne Howells told the paper.
“Peterborough is ideally located and we're pleased to be bringing more jobs to the local community.”
As well as the Peterborough announcement, Lidl has also recently confirmed that it is commencing construction on a new warehouse in Doncaster, as well as having projects underway in Bolton, Weston-Super-Mare and Scotland. (www.esmmagazine.com)
