Lidl begins US entrance with first store, 900 to open in next 5 years | Progresiv
German discounter Lidl is set to take the US retail landscape by storm with the official opening of its first stores on 15 June. As Lidl prepares to open its first stores in North Carolina, with expectations to have around 100 up and running across the US by the middle of 2018, other big names in the US grocery space like Walmart and Kroger watch closely as the discounter starts selling mainly private label goods.
It is also very well known for offering a variety of free-from labels, as well as organic cut-price fruit and vegetables and sustainable choices across its frozen and fresh ranges.
Lid's stores' openings - in Greenville, Rocky Mount, Sanford, Kinston, Winston-Salem and Wilson - are expected to cause a flurry of activity with big promotions on offer introducing shoppers to Lidl’s discount brands and labels, as well as its fresh produce segment.
Demonstrating what Lidl is all about, there will be grand opening specials and promotions and a Fresh 5 deal twice a week which includes three fresh fruits and vegetables and two meats at a heavily discounted price. Lidl will continue to discount throughout the summer with a myriad of promotions planned.
The supermarket will also be kicking off its food theme weeks where it sells discounted goods and authentic specialty items from a certain country or theme. The first will be the Italiamo range.
According to Lidl, it will offer a “simple and efficient approach to grocery shopping”, which will mean big savings for shoppers. And the newly-built stores will have easy-to-shop layouts. (www.foodingredientsfirst.com)
