German retailer Kaufland announced that the construction of the first three stores in the Republic of Moldova was started in Chisinau, according to local media. The announcement was made by Marco Hossl, General Director of Kaufland Romania and Dona Rapciuga, project director in Moldova at a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
The company plans to invest over 100 million euros in the first three years of its activity in the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, at least 1,000 jobs will be created over the next 5 years. Also, the company plans to invest 30-50 million euros annually in the future.

These figures show that we do not remain at the level of intent, but we put into practice our principles of activity, one of which is sustainable development. We aim to bring modern retail services to the Republic of Moldova, as we are specific to and how we have accustomed our customers in any market where we operate", said Kaufland representatives for Romania.
Kaufland, part of the German Schwarz Group, is one of the largest operators in European food retail, with over 1,200 stores in seven countries (Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania).
