Intermarche Portugal ends buying alliance with DIA Group | Progresiv
CINDIA, a central purchasing center created three years ago by Intermarché and Dia Group in Portugal, will put an end to its operation. Intermarché announces in a statement that the alliance will come to an end soon.
"Intermarché makes this decision because the brand intends to redefine its strategic objectives in terms of purchases," indicates the supermarkets chain. "Thus, the activity of Intermarché and Dia Group's central purchasing center, set up in May 2015, will cease in the coming months," the company concludes, without specifying a date.
Intermaché also recalls that the end of CINDIA takes place after a similar decision has been taken regarding the alliance with the Casino Group.
In 2015, when CINDIA was created, Centromarca was concerned about it: "These buyer alliances tend to limit competition between brands and reduce the differentiation of brands on the shelves," said Pedro Pimentel, Director General of Centromarca. (www.marketeer.pt)
