Dr. Oetker sees sales rise 1.6% to 2.4 billion euros in 2016 | Progresiv
Pizza and baking products manufacturer Dr. Oetker has posted a 1.6% sales increase in its full year 2016, to 2.4 billion euros.
As a result of a weakened pound, peso and lira, international sales grew by 0.9%, according to the company, accounting for 1.7 billion euros. In the company's home market of Germany, sales increased on a comparable basis by 2.7%, accounting for 740 million euros.
The company has announced its intention to expand into new markets - earlier this year it opened a new production facility in India - while it has also pledged to reduce the fat, salt and sugar content of its products. Over the past ten years, Dr. Oetker has reduced the salt content of its pizzas by more than 20%.
Dr. Oetker invested around 139 million euros in its business last year, of which 53 million euros was invested in Germany. This included the development of a new technology centre in Wittenburg and a research and development facility in Bielefeld.
Last May, the company opened its first production facility in Serbia. (www.esmmagazine.com)
