Doncafé sales down in 2018 | Progresiv
Strauss Romania, producer of the Doncafé coffee brand, ended last year with a turnover of more than 250 million lei (221 million shekels), down by 2.6% compared to 2017, amid fierce competition, according to the group's financial report.
"2018 has been characterized on the Romanian market through an aggressive competition and a policy of lowering prices from other players to gain market share. In this context, we are counting on promotions and brand consolidation. We also entered the market for coffee machines and capsules through the BeanZ brand", according to Strauss's financial report.
At group level, Strauss reported an increase of 4.8% in revenue, to 8.6 billion shekels (about 3 billion euros), the coffee and water business being the ones that supported this development.
Strauss Coffee Israeli group has been present in Romania since 1994 and has a production unit in Bucharest. The manufacturer owns the Doncafé, Fort and Amigo brands, the latter being acquired in 2014 from the Brazilian company CIA Iguacu De Café Soluvel for 20 million dollars.
