Colgate-Palmolive ends FY on weak note | Progresiv
Colgate-Palmolive has reported lower-than-expected revenue figures for its fiscal fourth quarter, hurt by weakness in Europe and the strength of the US dollar.
For the three months to 31 December, revenue was down 4.5% to 3.72 billion dollars, although it swung to a net profit of 606 million dollars, reversing last year’s loss of 458 million dollars.
The group said it was hurt by the impact of the US dollar, which reduced the input of its international revenue (accounting for 75% of total revenue). Sales in Europe were down 7.5% in particular.
The group said it expects a “low-single-digit net sales” rise for the current fiscal year, adding that it foresees “another year of solid organic sales growth driven by a full new product pipeline, engaging marketing programmes and strong advertising support.” (www.kamcity.com)
