The Coca-Cola system in Romania, consisting of Coca-Cola Romania and Coca-Cola HBC bottler, directly contributed 74 million euros last year to the country's economy - according to the socio-economic impact study launched by the two companies. Of this amount, 34 million euros represent excises and taxes paid to the state.
The total contributions (direct and indirect) of the Coca-Cola system, which represents the added value created in the Romanian economy, amounts to 594 million euros - of which 253 million euros were excises and taxes paid in 2018. The two companies together sustain 27,300 jobs across the entire value chain.
"Most of the indicators in the two reports are growing significantly compared to the previous reports and are yet another proof of Coca-Cola's firm commitment to the local market, where it has been present for over 27 years", said representatives of the Coca system. They also said that they invest over one million euros a year in community projects (CSR).
Last year, Coca-Cola HBC sold over one billion liters of soft drinks (including mineral water) on the local market, the producer reporting a volume increase of about 9% compared to 2017, more pronounced on the carbonated drinks segment (+10.4 %). At the portfolio level, one third of the products are low-calorie or non-calorie drinks, the bottler specifying that in 2018 it reduced by 4.4% the average caloric content of the drinks, compared to the previous year.
The report also shows that over 90% of the ingredients used in the production process are locally sourced and 86% of the suppliers of the two companies are local, 82% of the supply budget going to them.
