Carrefour Poland trials ‘Fresh Market’ store-in-store concept | Progresiv
Carrefour has introduced a commercial concept with fresh premium food to its two hypermarkets in Poznań and Warsaw (Posnania and CH Targówek). The stand appeared in the framework of the Fresh Market and offers fruit and dried fruits from the higher shelf, including BIO products.
The project is carried out with the TREDI (TR.E.DI) distribution company, which Carrefour rented space in its hypermarkets in Poznan's Posnania and CH Targówek in Warsaw. The company, as part of its stand, which operates within the department with vegetables and fruits, offers about 40 top-shelf products, including three BIO products.
The product prices are at least a few zlotys higher than similar goods offered by the French operator as part of the Food Market. Such a significant difference in prices means that the fruit distributor's offer does not compete directly with the products offered by Carrefour, and complements the product proposal with a new, more expensive commodity segment.
The decision to introduce a stand with premium products can have two basic goals. On the one hand, it helps meet the needs of customers with the thickest wallets who expect a quality offer from the top up and are able to pay for it. On the other hand, against the background of the premium offer, the prices of products on Carrefour's stands may seem to customers with less wealthy pockets extremely attractive and competitive.
The premium fruit and vegetable project in the Carrefour chain hypermarkets is currently in the testing phase. It can be assumed that it will be intended only for selected stores that are visited by a larger group of customers who can afford more expensive products. (www.wiadomoscihandlowe.pl)
