Carrefour expands grocery collection service in Belgium | Progresiv
Carrefour Belgium is expanding its Drive grocery collection service, opening twelve new pick-up points since the beginning of the year, with plans to open a total of 70 in 2018.
At the end of 2017, Carrefour had 179 pick-up points in operation across Belgium, where customers can collect grocery orders that they have placed on the drive.be website, which currently offers around 15,000 products.
In January, the company opened new collection points at its stores in Hasselt, Uccle, Gits, Bocholt, Roeselare, and Bruges Market.
This month, the retailer has already opened a pick-up point at its new Market store in Anderlecht, and has plans to expand to La Louvière, Kortenberg, St Niklaas, Remouchamps and Embourg in the next few weeks.
By the end of 2018, Carrefour Belgium plans to have brought a total of 70 new Drive pick-up points into service, taking its total to 249 locations across the country.
The retailer says that by increasing this number it is 'demonstrating its desire to massively expand its omnichannel offering for the future'.
Last month, Carrefour chief executive Alexandre Bompard launched the company's five-year transformation plan, which included the aim of boosting the group's omnichannel sales in the countries where it operates, and targeting 5 billion euros worth of food e-commerce sales annually by 2022.
