Auchan Romania: “We will take the first step towards online commerce by year-end” | Progresiv
After entering the proximity segment in the first half of 2017, Auchan Romania announces that by the end of the year it will also take the first step towards online commerce.
"Auchan Romania will evolve to multiformat and in this sense, we are still open to the opportunities that exist or will exist on the Romanian market. The hypermarket is a format in which we continue to believe and open stores of this type wherever possible and the market will allow us. Equally, to meet the unique customer, proximity and ultraproximity stores will complement hypermarkets. Last but not least, we are glad to announce that at the end of this year, we will take the first step towards online commerce”, said Auchan representatives for Progresiv magazine.
Last autumn, Auchan launched in beta version MyAuchan.ro, a service that is only available in the Cotroceni store in Bucharest and allows buyers to order more special products, most of them imported, in categories such as sweets, wines, coffee, spices or pasta.
Auchan is one of the main players on the local retail market. The French have 33 hypermarkets with a sales area of 280,000 square meters and four MyAuchan proximity stores. According to financial data provided by the company, Auchan reported a turnover of 1.09 billion euros in 2016, up by 10% over the previous year.
