Auchan enhances the fresh offer with its own store farms | Progresiv
Auchan is the first emblem in Portugal to embrace a project that reinvents the offer of fresh products, such as herbs and other "KM zero" vegetables, without contamination or pesticides. The premiere is in Jumbo Sintra that already has this "fifth" called Jungle Box.
The entire process of germination, cultivation and packaging is done within the Jungle Box located outside the store. Afterwards, the products go daily to the interior, where they are available in a kiosk of its own, without any weight for the environment resulting from transportation ("Km zero").
Sintra's Jumbo "Jungle Box" offers the ideal environment for plants all year round, ensuring a continuous production of 365 days, without pesticides, without wastage and with unmatched consistent quality.
The products are in biodegradable packaging, made of corn starch and sugar cane fiber in cardboard glass. The daily replacement of the products allows to keep them always fresh and nutritious. In the Jungle Box will be produced plants for salads - lettuce, red lettuce and arugula -, microvegetais - wasabi mustard, mixture of mustards, radish, purple radish and purple shiso -, and aromatic herbs - chives, coriander, green basil, lemon basil, basil thai and salsa.
"This is another step in the strategy of Auchan Retail, whose goal is to invest in innovation that guarantees a differentiating offer. We want to continue to surprise our customers with sustainable products full of flavor "says Filipa Rebelo Pinto, Product Director of Auchan Retail Portugal. (mood.sapo.pt)
