Alexandrion to invest 40 million dollars in its first US distillery | Progresiv
Alexandrion Group, the largest local producer of spirits, will invest over 40 million dollars in its first US distillery and create 102 new jobs over the next five years, Hudsonvalleynewsnetwork.com reports.
The investment in the new distillery in Carmel, Putman County, will be completed in 2020, with beverages like whiskey, bourbon, gin, brandy and vodka being produced in this facility. The budget will be directed towards the renovation of an existing building and the construction of adjacent facilities, including the setting of a tasting room. The area occupied by this project is over 11,000 square meters.
To realize this investment, Alexandrion Group will benefit from a 2.7 million dollars tax credit through the New York-based Excelsior job creation program.
"We are excited about working with local authorities in this important project that marks Alexandrion Group’s entry into the US market. Investing in the local community is a strategic move that will allow us to be present in the US. We will use this project as an export plaftorm in other countries of the world", said Nawaf Salameh, President of Alexandrion Group.
Founded in 1994, Alexandrion is the largest local spirits producer, with business of over 180 million in 2017, up by 25% over the previous year. Alexandrion has its own brands such as Alexandrion, Brancoveanu or Saber, as well as imported brands such as Beluga vodka or Glenfiddich whiskey. Last year, Alexandrion put Romania on the map of whiskey makers, starting the production of single malt at Pleasa factory. In March this year, the company signed the takeover of the Halewood Wine Division in Romania.
