Ahold Delhaize reaches final deal in Belgian store divestment | Progresiv
Dutch retail group Ahold Delhaize has announced that it reached an agreement with Retail Partners Colruyt Group to divest the Albert Heijn Groenplaats store in Antwerp, Belgium.
The store will be taken over by Colruyt Group's Spar banner, while staff will remain employed by Albert Heijn Belgium, and will be relocated to other Albert Heijn stores in Antwerp and the surrounding areas.
This deal represents the final sale in the company's mandatory store divestment programme in Belgium, which was introduced following the merger of Ahold and Delhaize in 2016.
Earlier this year, Ahold Delhaize agreed to divest five of its stores in Belgium, in order to satisfy conditions set by the Belgian Competition Authority.
The final transaction is still subject to customary closing conditions, however, the company says that the location will be transferred in approximately one month. (www.esmmagazine.com)
